I received an email or text saying I was approved for a loan. How do I know if it’s from Borrowell?

  • Updated

To determine if an email or text claiming you were approved for a loan is genuinely from Borrowell, consider the following guidelines:

What Borrowell May Do:

  • Official Email Addresses: Borrowell will only email you from addresses ending in @borrowell.com or @email.borrowell.com. We may contact you if you are a member and have been pre-qualified for a loan.
  • Loan Confirmation: If you applied for a loan through Borrowell's website, we might confirm details via email from an official address.
  • Follow-up Inquiries: Any further inquiries regarding your loan application will also come from the aforementioned official email addresses.

What Borrowell Will NOT Do:

  • Unsolicited Approvals: Borrowell will not send emails stating you are approved for a loan unless you have specifically applied for one.
  • Requests for Money: We will never ask for money, gift cards, or prepaid cards upfront.
  • Money Transfers: Borrowell does not request money transfers via Western Union or other means; all transactions are conducted through credit/debit card and pre-authorized debit agreements.
  • Alternative Email Addresses: Any communication from Borrowell will exclusively come from our official email domains.

Additional Safety Tips:

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive suspicious communication, do not reply, click on links, or open attachments. Report such emails as spam or phishing to your email provider.
  • Contact Borrowell Directly: If you're unsure about the legitimacy of any communication, contact us directly through our official website or customer service channels.
  • Report Fraud: For any fraudulent activity, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or by calling 1-888-495-8501.

By following these guidelines, you can better protect yourself from potential scams that may impersonate Borrowell.
