What are the required criteria for my lease agreement and proof of rent payments?

  • Updated

We require the following criteria when reviewing your lease agreement and proof of rental payments:

  • The lease document must include the following details:

    • Names of parties: Both the tenant and landlord must be listed.
    • Address: The full address of the rental property.
    • Lease Term: The start date and duration of the lease.
    • Financials: The rent amount and the specific due date.
    • Signatures: Both the tenant and landlord must have signed the document.
  • We accept three document types. Your proof must include the amount paid, the date, and the names of both parties at a minimum:

    1. Bank Statements
    • Must show the amount of rent paid and the date of payment.
    2. E-transfer Details
    • Must show the amount of rent paid and the date of payment.
    3. Rental Receipts
    • Amount of rent paid.
    • Address of the rental property.
    • Dates the rent was paid.
    • Name of the person who paid the rent.
    • Name of the person or business who received the rent.
    • Name and signature of the landlord.

Please note: You must submit a valid lease agreement to get your past rental payments submitted to Equifax Canada. If any of the criteria points are missing, the document will be rejected. We only submit valid proof of rental payments to Equifax Canada and reserve the right to make any inquiries we consider necessary to verify your rent details per our Past Rent Reporting Terms and Conditions.
